Position des adjectifs (Position of adjectives)

Unlike English, French adjective usually follows the noun:

-un métier intéressant(an interesting job)
-des parents modernes(nodern parents)

Adjectives of colour and nationality always follow the noun:

-des chaussures rouges(red shoes)
-le drapeau britannique(the British flag)

Common adjective generally comes before the noun:

Some adjective hvae different meaning according to their position:

-mon ancien mêtier(my formaer job)                  un tableau ancien(an old painting)
-un brave type(a nice fellow)                       un homme brave(a brave man)
-un certain charme(a certain charm)                 un fait certain(a definite fact)
-chère Chloé(Dear Chloé)                            un cadeau cher(an expensive gift)
-une grande vedette(a great star)                   un homme assez grand(a fairly tall man)
-la dernière séance(the last performace)            le mois dernier(last month)
-le même endroit(the same place)                    la vérité même(the truth itself)
-mon pauvre ami!(my poor friend!)                   des gens pauvres(poor people)
-mon propre frère(my own brother)                   une chambre propre(a clean room)
-mon seul espoir(my only hope)                      un homme seul(a lonely man)
-un simple employé(an ordinary employee)            des goûts simple(simple tastes)

If number of adjectives are there, same rule will be applied to each of them

-le bon vieux temps(the good old days)
-un joli foulard rouge(a pretty red scarf)
