Subjonctif (Subjunctive)
The subjunctive is a French mood (or mode) which expresses the speaker's opinion, desire, emotion, uncertainty, wish, doubt, demand, or a hypothetical situation. Two subjuntive tenses that are generally used are the present and the perfect(passé composé). The imperfect and pluperfect(plus-que-perfait) subjunctive are found mainly in literature or n text of a formal nature. The subjunctive will always be used in a sentence that has a dependent and an independent clause connected by "que" and can only be used in the present and past tenses.
